Dorothy Parker had it all

I want to be a part of the Algonquin Round Table.  Or at least make an effort to resurrect it.

Problem:  With a few notable exceptions (who will remain un-noted, but they know who they are), most of the people I know that would qualify to participate I can't stand the site of.

I still think it would be a great idea...

That would be a good thing for them to cut on my tombstone: Wherever he went, including here, it was against his better judgment.

And God Bless three day holidays and those that can actually participate in them!

Sofa dreams and other musings

It arrived! (the Sofa of my dreams) Have napped on it.  It's tremendous.

The new grapefruit candle has added a great amount of happy-ish-ness to Chez Eddie.

Am still unsure of how to proceed concerning a certain situation.  HE is still very much on my mind even though I have done everything one can to suppress or expunge the feelings.  Feh.  Will just accept that they are there and move on.

Will become hermit.  Have new sofa to keep me company anyway along with new grapefruit candle.  And that's all I need.

And this chair.

At least it sunny and warm today.

Road trip is in order may be, not to contradict the feelings of self-induced hermitage...  but I think it may be in order.  Yes.

Debate...

Am currently in that frame of mind that comes with not being able to sit on living room furniture.  The sofa will arrive today (finally!!) between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 (provided, of course if the message left on mobile from said merchant of sofas is correct) and the anticipation is desperately palatable!

Have just realized how sad (pathetic) it is that am excited over the delivery of said sofa.

Week has been a trial, dear friends (and random readers).  Have been subjected to the horrors and continued irritation of an "off-site" meeting of my extended team and found that most of them are v. attractive, giving rise to the notion of moving to where they are as have little luck securing a "steady" here.  Won't, of course, as a certain someones face rises in my head when thoughts of relocating take place and the notion immediately disappears.

Was invited to go camping with a bunch of couples this weekend.  Now, while each of the couples is super fantabulous individually, being stuck with a bunch of We's for the weekend talking about We stuff, seems a bit too much for a non-We.  Besides, have pledged Boris-The-Box-Car to R for his adventure in moving and will enjoy his company much more than a bunch of We's talking about how great their lives are since becoming We's.

The Palace of Westminster

Just got a text from Kev and Ste from the roof of the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliment) in London.

Jealous, I am!

Fishing for the shark

Have decided that all things of a socially accepted "nice" nature should be ignored.  Will begin stating exactly what am thinking without regard to social morays.

Will be fun.

Really...  it will be.

All this AND I get to run screaming?

Best line heard at an airport "I wouldn't have such an issue with the religious right if they just dressed better."

The abject misery of being in Sacramento has ended.  R picked me up from the airport hungover like a alcoholic dog.  Poor guy.  With that and the not-so-distant memory of his text message to me about getting dumped, I felt very sorry for him.  We still had fun.

By the way, Opera should only be in three languages: Spanish, Italian, and German.  Never English and never about Richard Nixon's visit to China in the 1970S.  The man that thought up the concept should be drawn and quartered.

Halfway through the performance I found the tickets to the Twin Cities Gay Mens Chorus production for that same night.  Oh well, I wasn't feeling that gay anyway.

HOME!!

I am resting now happily on the "sofa" (yes, the real one is STILL not here) with the all powerful R (now, officially my best gay friend), getting ready to watch movie and eat ice-cream - blood sugar be damned!

Creative misery

It's 11am in CA and I already need a drink.

Have decided to reason that because it's actually 1pm on the east coast, it's perfectly ok to feel that a drink is in order.

So there.

Back on WTF mode

It apparently happened again yesterday.  The Karma thing strikes again.

DAMN DAMN DAMN!

Bad Chinese

It's nice to know that bad chinese can be had in virtually any city.  Will perhaps make that a new world tour to replace the "Bad Theme Restaurant World Tour 2001".

Yes!  Will do that!

Look for the book sometime in 2007.

The Royal "We"

Have decided to dislike central California.

Favorite quote from hotel worker this week:  "Oh, the internet access is free.  But the connection isn't."  - Said to me when reviewing charges from previous week and inquiring why there was a "connection charge" on my bill when it was advertised all over the frickin' place that they had "free internet".

And people say that I work for the great satan?  Please!  Banks are pussycats compared to those overly stimulated, creepy front desk clerks!

But only in CA.

Fuck YEAH!!

Ahhh  The lovely haunting sounds of Rasputina floating in my head...

I still have the distant sounds of cello's being played to the tune of Barracuda floating in the back of my mind.

Fan-fuckin'-tastic!!

Failure? Success? Apathy?

Apparently, it was a success (at least on one side).

I can survive this.  I know I can.

May 02, 2005

recovery?

Drinks with Stef will make it all better (or at least cause the hangover which will make forgetting alot easier)

WTF?!

I must have been Eva Braun in a past life.  It's the only explanation for having to pay this Karmic debt that is apparently on a high interest rate revolving account.

And in the back of my mind I hear Bono's comments upon being notified of The Pet Shop Boys covering the U2 single "Where The Streets Have No Name"...

"What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?"

Chin up young person (whatever, it's my fault for not saying something sooner)
